THE ARKWRIGHT ROOMS WEDDING VIDEO /// KENSON & ADAM

The Arkwright Rooms Wedding, Kenson and Adam

As you may have seen from my portfolio page, I’m lucky enough to travel around the country to some great venues. And sometimes, I’m lucky enough that groom prep is within walking distance from my flat. But the convenience of the location was far from the best thing about Kenson and Adam’s wedding day. After a chilled grooms prep, we went into town to the ceremony and reception venue.

The Arkwright Rooms, part of the Nottingham Trent University, are nestled in the heart of town. If you haven’t seen them before, they’re definitely worth a google. The face of the building is elaborately designed with Gothic-looking arches and windows, and it definitely makes a grand entrance. Guests were welcomed with a newspaper for the day which I thought was a really nice touch.

The ceremony room is light and airy, with loads of natural light, and the opportunity for the couples to decorate in their own style. The courtyard is great for post-ceremony drinks and games too. Garden games are excellent for getting footage of your guests having a good time. A giant jenga, bubbles, a ball pit for the kids, and a massive inflatable unicorn all gave Kenson and Adam’s guests something fun to do, and I got some great ‘action shots’ too.

I’ll gloss over the part where I got told off by a security guard for trying to shoot from the wrong place… you can’t win ‘em all.

Kenson and Adam both gave a speech, as well as Adam’s dad, his two best men, and Kenson’s maid of honour. The speeches were really emotional, with few dry eyes in the house. It was really special to see their family and friends stand up to support and celebrate them on their wedding day. It’s an honour to give a speech at a loved one’s wedding, so if you’ve got more than the traditional three, I say the more the merrier. You’re wedding day is all about you, and who you choose to stand up and speak is up to you.

After cutting the cake, supplied by a local favourite of mine Doughnotts, and getting some clips of guests having a ball in the photo booth, it was time to dance the night away.
