Hayley & Steve got married in early April, and boy did they get lucky with the most amazing weather! It was wall to wall sunshire all day topped off with the most amazing sunset (I'll talk about that later).
We started the day arriving for Bridal prep nice and early shooting some details whilst hair and makeup started downstairs. There was a bit of a gap between Hayley having her hair done and then going into makeup which is when we found out the guys were getting ready only a two minute walk away. I quite often miss groom preparations if locations vary, unless a second shooter is added, so quite often I just try to grab what I can before the church. It made a nice change to be able grab some shots of Steve opening some presents on the morning and getting his suit on before heading back to the ladies.
After bridal prep finished we made our way to the church in good time, I always like to try and get to the church one hour before the ceremony starts as I've lots of cameras and audio to set up. When you're filming an event in real time this get more complicated, you can't move around disturbing the service, you need to have a camera pre-placed to have that shot already. The vicar new we were coming and was very nice and accommodating. After the service finished everyone hopped on a bus over to Beedles Lake.
After formal photographs were taken I ran to set up my cameras again for the speeches, happening before the wedding breakfast. It's always a little rush to set up speeches when they are before the breakfast but we got everything ready. Listening to the speeches it was really plane to see how much of a close knit family everyone was which was lovely. Laughter and tears, we had a bit of everything.
Beedles Lake sorted some food out for us, thanks for that guys! and we had a little break. We set back to work filming guest interactions and as the sun started setting I set planning a little couple shoot for Hayley & Steve. I left it as long as I dare until the light was just right, and just before the first dance, and grabbed the couple. The result was such a beautiful cinematic light with the stunning backdrop of the lake in the background, definitely one of my best sunsets ever! As far as 'pretty shots' go it really doesn't get any better than a sunset, even though the sun sets every day with a wedding so many things need to fall into place to allow this to happen. Weather being the main one, an itinerary than allows the time, a couple that are happy for you to take them away from their friends for a few minutes. But today everything that needed to happen did and I came away with some really stunning shots, you can see them in the end of their highlight film.
After the first dance we filmed a bit of dancing before packing up and heading home. All in all a really fun day. You can watch Hayley & Steve's Highlight film below.
