Cat & Garry got married at the Nottinghamshire golf and country club on a sunny Sunday in April. Myself and my assistant arrived, as always, nice and early. Cat and Gary's wedding was all held at the Nottinghamshire which was great, I unpacked all of my equipment, grabbed some shots of the ceremony room before wondering down to the onsite hotel where Cat was getting ready. Myself, Robert Sail photography, Cat, Hair & makeup, and all the bridesmaids got acquainted and got some great preparation shots. One that happened completely by accident is when Cat's dad saw her in her dress for the first time. This is weddings all over, thing just happen and you react as quickly as possible. The reaction from Cat's dad was just brilliant and I was very happy to capture such a special moment through my camera.
Moving onto the ceremony, Claire the events manager made my day as she told be she was going to stagger everyone's entrances allowing me to all but secure a top notch shot of the bride walking down the aisle, all to often the bridal party might all pile down the aisle at once and I can struggle to get the shot every bride wants, but not today. One happy videographer indeed. Cat and Gary also had personal vows which I always love.
After the ceremony and some mingling myself and Robert grabbed the couple for a few quick shots before darting back into the venue to get ready for the speeches. When editing the highlight film I found myself picking out loads of funny moments, and these really characterised the wedding, it was just good fun through and through. It was actually difficult to find a song 'happy' enough to match the mood of the wedding but I found it eventually.
We managed to grab the couple for another few quick shots braving some chilly evening weather before heading back indoors for a pre-planned surprise. Just before the first dance Cat surprised Gary with a honeymoon trip to New York (amazing!). We were in on it from a few weeks previous which is always a massive help. I could plan where to place my cameras to film the whole thing. After the first dance got underway, we filmed some dancing and then we were done for the day. A good day indeed.
You can check out pictures from the day on Robert Sail's webpage, he's a great local photographer and a pleasure to work alongside.
Cat had this to say about me and my work:
